Plane with blue painted steel and selected rosewood handle and knob. Smaller versions of this plane, known as jack or smooth planes, cornered the school and technical college workshop markets. They continued to be used by the professional trades, as well as by serious amateurs who may have acquired some technical training or workshop practice.
