Gift pack sent as a part of a direct marketing hit to adult smokers in the UK consisting of a cardboard tube containing a packet of rolling papers, a cigarette rolling machine, a packet of filter tips, a leaflet and a voucher for a free pack of hand rolling Golden Virginia tobacco. Issued by Imperial Tobacco Ltd. Medical research, which linked tobacco smoking with a lengthening list of health hazards including lung cancer and heart disease, led to active measures to reduce cigarette use. Manufacturers responded to anti-smoking measures by offering reduced tar cigarettes and restrictions on tobacco advertising in the UK led to alternative marketing methods such as sending free gifts to smokers.
