This bicycle, made by T. I. Raleigh Industries Ltd. at the Lenton Boulevard works in Nottingham, was specially designed for young people. By deliberately adapting certain design features from contemporary motorcycle practice, such as high, raised handlebars, dual seat saddle and a central gear-change lever, the manufacturers produced a novel form of bicycle which was intended to appeal to boys and girls aged 8 to 14. It became an immediate success.
