A steel-bladed table knife with ivory handle and silver ferrule. Cutlery-making in the eighteenth century was a distinct trade controlled by the Cutlers' guild. Cutlers made all sorts of sharp-edged tools in addition to knives, including spades, razors and blood-letting lancets for surgeons. Dimensions: length 255 mm, width 30 mm, height 22 mm.
